ABCSW Presents Second Successful Conference from Philadelphia!

 The best way to describe the experience of our 2024 Conference that was expressed by many attendees is to share the stories of two clinical social workers who were there.

At our final session, one attendee stood and spoke about having traveled from New York City for the conference.  She said that she had been treating clients in Harlem for around 40 years and had recently been feeling burned out.  In conversations with her colleagues and family, she had expressed her ambivalence about attending the ABCSW Conference.  They strongly encouraged her to go, thinking that it might help her to be around her professional peers.  She told our audience that she was astounded to notice how rejuvenated and excited she was feeling after attending the many sessions of the conference and interacting with so many other wonderful clinical social workers from across the country.  Mission accomplished!
One of our plenary panel speakers voiced her feelings about being there this way: “I have never been at a conference where I felt such warmth and generosity coming from the people in attendance.  There is often a sense of competition and intimidation at a conference, and everything here is the epitome of feeling welcomed and appreciated.I am definitely going to stay involved with ABCSW!” 

We can confidently state that the dreams of the Conference Committee were realized.  Our attendees received their CE’s, but so much more!  Excellent plenary speeches and well-executed breakout sessions packed with useful information can be planned, but the positive feelings that the vast majority of our attendees left with are serendipitous.  If you missed it, we hope you’ll get to absorb the passion and wisdom at the next conference!
