Session Description:
The Cycle Ends With Me: The Keys to Generational Healing explores how intergenerational trauma continues to shape emotional patterns, communication, and relationships across families, communities, and organizations. This interactive training examines the powerful role of psychological safety and emotional intelligence in interrupting these cycles and fostering environments where healing can occur.
Participants will learn how trauma is transmitted through both behavior and belief systems, and how intentional emotional awareness, empathy, and safety can transform those inherited dynamics. By bridging theory with practice, this session equips attendees to recognize trauma patterns, cultivate emotionally safe relationships, and model behaviors that promote resilience and connection across generations.
Ultimately, this training empowers participants to say, “The cycle ends with me,” not just as a statement of personal growth, but as a call to collective healing.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Define intergenerational trauma and describe how emotional patterns, beliefs, and behaviors are transmitted across generations.
2. Explain the principles of psychological safety and how they apply not only in workplaces, but also within families, schools, and communities.
3. Identify the key components of emotional intelligence and their role in fostering healing environments.
4. Apply strategies to cultivate psychological safety and emotional intelligence across environments.
5. Reflect on personal experiences of inherited emotional patterns and identify actionable steps toward healing and resilience

Terance Dawkins, LISW-CP
Terance Dawkins, LISW-CP, is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice (LISW-CP) from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Terance achieved both his Undergraduate and Masters Degrees in Social Work from Winthrop University, empowering him with the knowledge and skills to excel in his profession. He holds dual licenses as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in South Carolina and North Carolina. Terance is deeply connected to his roots, having grown up in the very community where he now operates his own private practice, Missing Pieces Counseling Services. Terance's aspirations reach beyond his private practice; he also works at the Counseling Center at Furman University, where he continues to touch lives and make a difference. Terance sits on the Advisory Board for Spartanburg Area Mental Health, the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, and the South Carolina Society for Clinical Social Work. Terance recognizes the profound impact of family interactions and daily experiences on one's beliefs and life lessons. This realization sparked his interest in Intergenerational Trauma, inspiring him to explore its implications across multiple generations. Destigmatizing mental health is a core belief for Terance, and he aims to break down self-imposed barriers that prevent individuals from seeking essential mental health services.
