Happy New Year Clinical Social Workers!

As we begin 2021, let’s allow ourselves new opportunities for personal and professional growth. Self care is now a basic necessity so we may continue to serve others.

Our world looks different now, so we continue to make adjustments as needed. Wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, washing our hands more, maintaining social distance, attending virtual meetings and social gatherings, and being cautious are the new norm.

Physical social greetings like hugs and kisses have been replaced by “fist bumps”. Although smiles are no longer visible in public, our eyes can still reflect warmth, kindness and love.

Now, more than ever, we must focus on the positive things within our control. Let’s practice mindfulness, self care and caution as we begin this new year.

As your ABCSW President, I’m delighted to share some exciting news for all of our members! For several years now, we’ve discussed the idea of hosting an annual conference. To that end, we’ve recently established a Conference Committee chaired by our esteemed board member Jana Edwards.

Please be on the lookout for a survey so that we may hear from you regarding the needs and preferences of our members. We want to tailor our conference to best suit your needs.

Looking forward to 2021 and its promise of new opportunities. Please be safe and take care.

Lucia Anna Leo, LCSW-S BCD
ABCSW President
